Obituary:Adrianus "Adrie" Cornelus Hekking1935 ~ 2011Adrianus "Adrie" Cornelus Hekking, 75, of Nauvoo, Il, died Monday, November 28, 2011 at his home after a long battle with cancer.Adrie was born November 30, 1935 to Roelof E. Hekking and Kristina Van Komen in Rotterdam, Netherlands. He immigrated to the United States in 1948 with his parents and younger sister. He had the opportunity to do ranch work in Randolph, Utah, where he developed many lifelong friends. He married Katherine Holland in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on June 30, 1955. She was the love of his life. They had 6 daughters.Adrie and Katherine moved permanently to Nauvoo, IL two years ago. He felt a special connection to Nauvoo from the time of his first visit. He and his wife made several extended visits before they made it their home. He worked in the Nauvoo Temple which was a highlight of his life.He is survived by his wife, Katherine, of Nauvoo, IL; six daughters and son-in-laws: Deborah & Bruce Atkinson of Zion, IL, Valerie and Nolan Crabb of Hilliard, OH, Kristine & Randy Fox of Herriman, UT, Sandra & Brad Twiggs of Sandy, UT, Athena & David Labrum of Farmington, UT and Nichole & Shawn Grandbouche of Keokuk, IA; 21 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; a sister and brother-in-law; Maria and Michael Lund; 2 brother-in-laws and their spouses: Dee and Shirley Holland of Salmon, ID and John and Rosemarie Holland of Lengries, Germany; one sister-in-law and her husband, Janice and Clive Kinghorn of Lubbock, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.Visitation will be Monday, December 5, 2011 at 9:00 am at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Nauvoo, IL with the funeral following at 11:00 am. Burial will be at the Nauvoo City Cemetery in Nauvoo, IL.
