Transcription of Admission Notes, Mullers Orphanage, Bristol: 8157 a9044:Agnes Rafferty born on the 11th. November 1884, at Ashton and registered on the 4th. December 1884 in the Sub-District of Ashton in Makerfield, in the county of Lancaster. William James Rafferty, Labourer and Agnes Duncan were married on the 16th. Febry, 1875 in the Parish Church of St. George's, Barrow-in-Furness, in the County of Lancaster. William James Rafferty, Railway Signalman, died on the 21st. December, 1890 (accidentally injured on the 19th. December, 1890, on the London & North Western Railway, near Brynn Station) and his death was registered on the 27th. December, 1890, in the District of Wigan, in the County of Wigan. Agnes Rafferty died of Gastro-Enteritis on the 20th. June, 1891, in the Sub-District of Ashton-in-Makerfield in the County of Lancaster. This child is the sister to No. 8158, and was together with her delivered into Mr. Muller's hands by their sister, Jane Rafferty, c/o John Latham, Long Lane, Brynn, Wigan, and Thos. John Davidson, cousin to their late Father, same address. The nearest relatives are *James Duncan, Grandfather, Farmer, Reaskatirriff, Aughnacloy, Co. Tyrone. Jane Rafferty, sister before named and James Rafferty, Brother, same address. Thomas John Davidson, before named, Cousin to their late Father. John Duncan, Uncle, Baker, Aughnacloy, Co. Tyrone. James Duncan, Uncle, Farmer, Reaskatirriff, Aughnacloy, Co. Tyrone. Maggie Martha Duncan, Aunt, same address. Mrs. Christina Taggart, Aunt, Dernabane, near Aughnacloy, Co. Tyrone. These children lived with John Latham before named, and Robert Strong, Members of the Baptist Church, Brynn, Wigan. Application for the admission of these children was made by Mr. Samuel Woods, Rose Villas, Brynn, Wigan. The Undertaking was signed by the Applicant and the four relatives first named. This child was admitted to into the Infant Departmt of No. 2 on the 13th. August, 1891. There is a sum of 80.00 in Bank according to answer to questn. No. 2. There are two other children, a girl of about 16 years of age and a boy about 14 years of age. The applicant also states in his letter of 6/7/91.-"They have a Grandfather in Belfast and I am quite sure he would be glad to do all in his power by contributing towards the support of the children". 41.9.0 paid Augt. 20/92 by *James Duncan being the share of the property to which these children are entitled.
