Transcription of William's will dated 1700, the year before he died:In the name of God Amen the two and twentieth day of December Anno Dm 1700 I William Scott of Burnham in the parish of Haxey County of Lincoln yeom being of good and fort remembrance (praised be to almighty God) do make this my last Will and ? in manner following that is to say first I bequeath my soul and spirit into the hands of Almighty God my heavenly father by whome of his meer and onlyet grace I hu? To be saved and re? Into eternal ? through the death of my Saviour and redeemer Jesus Christ and my body in hope of a joyfull resurrection I comitt to the earth to be buried as my executrix hereafter named shall think good. And ? my estate and the distribution of my goods I disperce of the same as followeth.I will that all such debts as I owe shall be truly paid. Item. I give and devise to my son John Scott and his heires for ever all my freehold land within the ? field territories and p? of Burnham aforesaid Except halfe of the ? lying towards the South and West which. I give and devise to my son William Scott and his heires for ever.Item. I give and bequeath to my Daughters Elizabeth Duglas and Katherine to each of them forty pound a piece to be paid them within twelve months next after my decease.Item. I give and bequeath to my sons Thomas and Robert five and twenty pound a piece to be paid them when they shall ? attain the age of one and twenty years.Item. I give and bequeath to my Daughters Sarah and Leah the sume of five and twenty pound a piece to be paid to each of them when they shall ? ? the age of one and twenty years. And my will is that all my said sons and daughters shall out of my personall estate be brought up, educated and maintained with ? and apparel and all other necessaries meet and ? for them during their minority. All the rest of my goods and chattels not disposed of I give and bequeath to Mary by loving wife whom I make sole Executrix of this my last will and testament. And I do utterly revoake all former wills herebefore by me made or declared And I make my Brother in Law Aaron Maw and Hezekiah Ducker joint trustees of this my last will and testament desiring them to ? the same ?.
