Notes for HERBERT NEEDHAM:THE NEEDHAMS - from Memory Lane book:Herbert Needham was born in Doncaster, Yorkshire, in 1882. Herbert was employed with the wire works in Sheffield.In the spring of 1913, along with their three year old daughter, Elsie, Herbert and his wife Ida embarked for Canada, coming to live for a year with Ida's parents, Mr. & Mrs. William Golland of the Clumber district, before moving to Saltcoats where Herbert worked for Charles Boake and Ida helped Mrs. Ely in the Saltcoats Hotel. They later moved on to the Harvey Lennox farm for a time then took up farming in the Clumber district where they resided until 1950 when they moved into the town of Bredenbury to retire.Their daughter, in the meantime had become the wife of Lorne Taylor, making their home on the bank of the Cut Arm creek in the Clumber district, where they raised a family of eight children, six sons, Earl, Gerald, Ray , Morris, Linton, and Darryl, and two daughters, Myrtle, and Shirley.Mr. Needham passed away in January 1962; Mrs. Needham in 1966.

GOLLAND - Wm. Golland and his wife Mary Jane with their two sons Cecil and Harry, arrived in Canada from England in 1902. They homesteaded in the Clumber District and lived there until they passed away in 1938 and 1941.Their son Harry died when he was seventeen years of age, and Cecil died in 1942.Mr. & Mrs. Golland left two sons, Gervas and George, and a daughter Ida from his first marriage, behind them in England when they emigrated.Ida (Mrs. Herbert Needham) later came to Canada with her husband and small daughter Elsie.
