Transcription of settlement

To the Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor of the Township of Staveley in the County of Derby.We the Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor of the Township of Brampton in the County of Derby aforesaid do hereby certify, own and acknowledge Rachel Waterhouse Spinster, and the child or children that now goeth with, to be our inhabitants legally settled with us, in our said Township of Brampton And if at any time hereafter the said Rachel Waterhouse or the child or children which she now goeth with, shall become chargeable to and ask relief of your said Township of Staveley we the said Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor of the Township of Brampton aforesaid, do hereby promise for ourselves and successors, that we will, when requested by any of you, receive, relieve, and provide for them, as our inhabitants, according to the law in that case requires. In witness whereof we have hereunto set our hands and seals the Eighteenth day of June in the year of our Lord 1802.
