Obituary:GRACE - Marvel Cherry Harwood, 96, of Grace, passed away Sunday, May 27, 2012, at the Caribou Memorial Living Center in Soda Springs. M a r v e l was born on December 2, 1915, in Grace, Idaho, the daughter of Lewis James and Marvel Fern Aylett Cherry.She lived in Grace all her life. Her mother passed away when she was only 11 days old and she was raised by her maternal Grandparents Jesse and Martha Ann Aylett. She attended elementary and two years of High School in Grace.Marvel married Elwin Thomas "Tom" Harwood on May 3, 1934, in Preston, Idaho. He passed away on March 22, 2001.She is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She had served as Jr. Sunday School Secretary for 24 years and as a visiting teacher and visiting teaching supervisor for many years.Marvel collected salt and pepper shakers and has about 1,000 sets. She also enjoyed quilting and made quilts for all her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and many others. She also liked crocheting, sewing, embroidery, reading, word search puzzles, canning, pinochle, and started piano lessons at age 76.She is survived by four sons and two daughters; Dale and Karron Harwood of Shelley, Idaho; Jerry and Charmaine Harwood of Paris, Idaho; Lee and Nita Harwood of White City, Ore.; Rick and Sharon Harwood of Grace, Idaho; Joyce and Arlo Mendenhall of St. Anthony, Idaho; Marilyn Welker of Grace, Idaho; and a son-in-law Dennis Fowler. She is also survived by 24 grandchildren, 60 greatgrandchildren and 5 greatgreat-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, a daughter Shirley Fowler, a son Floyd Harwood, a son-in-law Ray Welker, 4 grandsons and 4 granddaughters, three brothers, Loren, Jim and Bob Cherry and one sister Thelma Adams.Services will be held on Saturday, June 2, 2012, at 1 p.m. at the Grace LDS Stake Center. The family will visit with friends on Saturday morning from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Stake Center prior to services. Burial will be at the Grace Cemetery.
